Helmet City provides FREE DELIVERY to almost all mainland UK addresses. We aim to dispatch in 2-5 working days, maybe more for out of stock items or items that are special order. Delivery to Republic of Ireland, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and Scottish Highlands & Islands is FREE only if the order value is over £150.00. Low value items sent to Northern Ireland and other non UK mainland addresses may incur a nominal fee, we will contact you.  Next day delivery is not guaranteed, but most items are delivered in 2-5 working days.

Since Brexit, unfortunately there are now VAT charges for our customers in Europe/Ireland, as per the rest of the world.  Overseas customers are responsible for any VAT or Customs charges. If an item is returned due to non-payment of these charges, our costs (both ways) will be deducted from any refund requested.  We have created the following guide which we hope will be of help :

This is a basic 'approximate' guide of how much it MAY cost to import a Helmet into the EU from the UK. Helmet City are NOT responsible if the cost is different, this is just a guide based on our customers experiences. The amount charged varies between Countries.

If Customs/VAT is not paid after we have despatched, we will recover our costs (both ways) from any refund requested. The costs are likely to be between £20 and £50 depending on the EU Country and any additional costs that we may incur.

We use DPD to deliver to all current EU destinations as well as all other European countries. Delivery is FREE to selected EU Countries, if the order value is over £150. We aim to dispatch in 2-5 working days.  Delivery is also FREE to other selected EU Countries if the order value is over £200. Please add the product to your shopping basket and select your country to see how much it is.   Delivery to the Canary Islands is not free, the price currently is £75 for one helmet and we will contact the customer to let them know how to pay the additional amount. The Canary Islands charge Customs Clearance and other charges which we are not responsible for.  We deliver to most other worldwide destinations and a live quote is given during the checkout process. Simply enter your postcode, town and country and the system will give you an accurate price for DPD Delivery based on the destination and volumetric weight of the order. Helmet City are NOT responsible for any taxes or any other import charges your country may impose for importation of your order. Please await confirmation of despatch before pre-paying any VAT or taxes that may be due. Please contact your country's custom office to check if you are liable to incur importation or VAT charges. If an item is returned due to the refusal to pay these charges, our costs (both ways) will be deducted from any refund requested. Helmet City is not responsible for extended area delivery charges or errors in the online order shipping system. If an order is placed and shipping must be charged due to a system error, customer neglecting to select the correct option or additional charges due to remote locations, Helmet City will contact the customer with shipping information and a price.

Intercoms and other items containing Lithium batteries cannot be sent by Air, for example to Australia, New Zealand, America etc.

Norway
In order to send to Norway, DPD must have the customers PID Number. Customs in Norway will not clear any item without the PID number. We will email you once your order is received.

Despatch
Items are despatched via DPD. With the new DPD Predict service, your parcel can be tracked by you every step of the way, make sure to download the App.  An email with the tracking number is sent when the item is marked for despatch.

Our Helmets are sent out in Brand New boxes, items clearly damaged in transit should not be accepted as once signed for, are accepted as delivered complete and undamaged. Helmet City cannot be held responsible for any damage discovered after the item has been signed for.

Please remember that it is the responsibility of the customer to ensure the goods are packaged for transport. Insufficient packaging resulting in the product being damaged will be the responsibility of the customer.  The box of the product must be wrapped / protected and not covered in tape or labels.  A restocking fee may be charged for any original boxes damaged due to careless packing.  However, if we send the wrong item or there is a fault upon delivery, we will pay for the return.

Delivery Times
Unless otherwise stated, we aim to dispatch stock items to the UK in 2-5 working days. Delivery times will vary for non UK delivery destinations, but we aim to deliver all European orders within 3 – 7 working days. Items shown on the website are not guaranteed in stock, however we do try and keep the website as accurate as possible. Delivery times may increase if items are out of stock or for items that are special order.

Care of your parcel
Your satisfaction is essential to Helmet city, which is why we use DPD and Royal Mail to send our products. ALL helmets are checked manually by us prior to despatch and are then placed into a brand new strong brown cardboard box. This protects the helmet and makes it easy for the customer to check for damage.

For your peace of mind and satisfaction all items are carefully checked prior to despatch.  Helmet City must be notified of any errors, missing items or damage within 48hrs of delivery.  This does not affect your consumer rights.

However, if you are unhappy with your purchase, Helmet City will be happy to accept the return of your helmet or other item within 30 days of purchase, providing:

• it is received back to us UNUSED and undamaged.  A used Helmet CANNOT be returned for a refund, unless it is proved to have a manufacturing fault.
• complete with ALL tags in place, helmet bag, manual, protective plastic on visor and any other associated parts supplied.
• the Pinlock Insert is NOT fitted (unless factory fitted as standard)
• in the undamaged Manufacturers helmet box
• packaging must not be damaged and must be in a re-saleable condition

If any of these criteria are not met, there will be either a 20% re-stocking fee or we may refuse to refund the helmet or other item.

Before sending an item back, you MUST raise a Return (RMA) online as follows :-

If you are familiar with ordering online just login to your account and navigate to the RMA section.  If you need a step by step guide, please see below.

1.  Log in to your account at helmetcity.co.uk. 
2.  Click your name at the top of the page and click 'My Account'.
3.  Select ‘My Returns’ from the list on the left.
4.  Click 'Request New Return'.
5.  Select the Order you wish to return and click Next.
6.  Put a tick in the box of the item/s in this order that you wish to return and some new information will appear. Select the Reason, Condition and Resolution accordingly.
7.  Enter any additional information that you want to tell us.
8.  If required, add any images that you wish to accompany your return by clicking the ‘Browse’ button.
9.  Click ‘Submit Request’
10.  We will then check your Return request and reply with the address that we need you to send it to.
11.  A link will be supplied to enable you to use our new DPD Returns Service.
12.  This information will be available in your Account under the RMA section.
13.  Please fill out the table below in full, cut it off and put it inside the packing box.
14.  Your Return will be processed as quickly as possible, but generally within 48hrs of receipt.
15. If an item is returned under warranty, return postage costs will ONLY be refunded if that item is PROVED to be faulty.

Visors & Pinlock Inserts
Please ensure that the Visor or Pinlock ordered is correct for your helmet.  If the packet is opened and we cannot sell it as brand new, we will not accept it back.

The weight shown on our website is generally for a size Medium, +/-50g and provided by the manufacturer.  Helmet City are not responsible if the weight of the actual helmet is different and will not be liable for any return postage costs.

We would suggest the item is sent via Royal Mail Recorded Delivery (if you think your product is damaged, please contact us BEFORE sending your item back).  Simply pack your parcel up securely using its original protective packaging and send to the address given to your RMA.  Please fill out and include this delivery note and pay postage costs at your Post Office.

If an item is returned under warranty, return postage costs will ONLY be refunded if that item is PROVED to be faulty.

Please remember that it is the responsibility of the customer to ensure the goods are packaged for transport. The Free Gift product is the product or products illustrated, no alternative products are offered. Helmet City reserves the right to substitute any free item offered with an item of equal or greater value. If a customer wishes to return an order which qualified for a gift with purchase, the transaction can only be refunded if the gift with purchase item is also returned.

Please note the customer is responsible for all return delivery charges unless the goods are wrongly delivered or proved to be faulty. In which case, only REASONABLE postage will be refunded (we will NOT refund Royal Mail Special Delivery costs). For your own security and peace of mind we would recommend that you use a recorded delivery service. Helmet City do not accept responsibility for returned goods lost or damaged in transit.

On receiving your goods we will process the return as quickly as possible. Refunds will be made using your original payment method and are normally completed within 1-3 working days of receipt of the returned items or notification that a refund is required. Finance deposits are refunded by Klarna normally with 2-4 days. Please note that once a Refund is processed, the wonderful banks can take a number of working days to actually put the money in your account!

The Helmet city guide to buying a Motorcycle Helmet

A poorly fitting helmet may not only be uncomfortable, more noisy and may move around when riding if too big or give headaches etc if it is too small, it is also dangerous. A helmet simply will not protect or perform as designed if the head inside it is not snuggly fitted against the impact absorbing material inside the shell.

Measuring
Once you've decided on the helmet (we have thousands available!), to make a better judgement on size we would recommend measuring your head. Using a soft measuring tape, measure around the circumference of your head, across the forehead just above the eyebrows, above the ears and around the back of your head. Helmets are available in sizes from 50cm right up to 67cm! If you are say 58.5cm and a Medium is 57-58cm and a Large is 59-60cm, we would generally suggest going for the smaller size as the interior will compress over time. This is not a guarantee of course and we would always suggest popping to one of our Retail shops (or your local dealer) to try one on (we have 7 shops at the moment).

Another thing to bear in mind, is that a helmet in say size Medium from one Manufacturer may fit completely differently to a Medium from another Manufacturer. Therefore we would always recommend travelling to a dealer to try a number of different brands to get the perfect fit for your head shape.

If you purchase a helmet online from HelmetCity.co.uk, it can be returned (at your cost) as long as our strict Returns Policy is followed. The helmet can only be tried on (not used on the road), no pinlock fitted, no protective film or tags removed and the bag and outer box in the condition we sent to you.

Trying your Helmet on
When your lovely new helmet arrives, pop it on (after reading the advice sheet enclosed in the box) and wiggle it around to make sure the top of your head fits and is settled right in. Give the helmet a push from the front towards the forehead to see if it gives you any pain or discomfort. Do the strap up and tighten it until you feel it is quite tight (but not uncomfortable - you need to breathe!) Look in a mirror - how does it fit on the cheeks? If you can fit a couple of fingers between your cheek and the helmet cheekpads then it is too big, if it is pressing so tight your cheeks are between your teeth and you can't talk, then it may be too small! Please note that cheek pads do compress over time so they sort of 'wear in'. On some of the higher end brands, like Shoei and Arai for example, thinner and thicker cheek pads and even skull pads can be supplied - depending on the model. If you know the size you require at the time of ordering, these can be swapped out free of charge (Shoei and Arai only) - we keep the unwanted size (this only applies to Full Price Helmets).

If you are generally happy with the fit, leave the helmet on for a good length of time to ensure it is not pressing in places that are not immediately apparant. If a helmet is really pressing on your forehead this can sometimes cause a headache over time so it may be worth trying another size or brand.

It is important to read our Returns Policy regarding helmets and the Advice Sheet enclosed with your purchase, before going for a ride as a helmet cannot then be returned if it does not fit or you are not happy with it.

SHARP provides advice on how to select a helmet that fits correctly and is comfortable and information about the relative safety of helmets to help motorcyclists to make an informed choice. There is also a very informative Video on the SHARP website!
