Shoei Neotec 3 - Grasp TC10

The Shoei NEOTEC series of flip-up helmets which have an internal sun visor, have been supported by the most discerning riders for years becuase they combine high level functions with high quality.

The NEOTEC 3 has been expertly refined using SHOEI's state-of-the-art technology and design know-how. While inheriting the basic functions from the NEOTEC series, such as the characteristic shell design for the internal sun visor housing and the face cover opening/closing system with eccentric axis, every part of the NEOTEC 2 has been reviewed and pursued to improve comfort and functionality for the NEOTEC 3.  The Sena SRL3 is designed for the Neotec 3.

Design

The Shoei NEOTEC 3 refines the shell shape which has a step in the forehead area which characterizes the sun visor series. The shell has been designed to make the outline from the side sporty along with the shell-integrated rear spoiler and lower rear portion are edgy leaving the impression of NEOTEC II, while the overall design is sophisticated that is typical of a touring model. The lines between the shell, face cover, and outer parts are designed to be smooth and seamless, and black is used for the ventilation base parts to express a three-dimensional presence.

Shield / Visor

The Neotec 3 introduces the new CNS-3C visor which now has a center locking mechanism and has been designed from the ground up just for the flip-up helmet. By placing the shield lock in the center, the deflection when opening and closing the shield is minimised, plus the shield adjustment difference between the left and right side is reduced.

The CNS-3C Visor features a shape in which the upper ends of both sides of the shield are bent toward the shell, creating a greater sense of unity and preventing water and wind from entering from around the shield and face cover. A clear Pinlock anti-fog insert is included.

Interior

The newly designed cheek pad is extended to the back of the head to closely fit the rider's neck.  Combined with the noise isolator that covers the gap around the chin strap, it prevents wind from entering from the bottom of the helmet.  The surface of the interior has a raised fabric that is soft to the touch and is used for areas where the rider's skin rubs when putting on and taking off a helmet.  The Neotec 3 also has a high absorption and quick-drying fabric which is used for areas where the rider may sweat.  This all helps to give rider comfort even when riding for long periods of time.

Sun Visor

SHOEI's internal sun visor has a reputation for having quality comparable to the European sunglass standard EN1836 and high optical characteristics with little distortion. The NEOTEC 3 uses the QSV-2 sun visor, which is 5 mm more elongated than the QSV-1. Strong wires are used for the Neotec 3's sun visor mechanism giving smooth reliable handling and a stopper function at the fully open position helps to prevent the sun visor from suddenly falling down and is currently unique to SHOEI.

Face Cover

The face cover, which can be said to be the most important feature of flip-up helmets, continues to adopt a mechanism that makes the movable axis eccentric and a face cover unlock button that is easy to operate even with winter gloves.  In order to equip the center locking mechanism for a shield, the lower side of the face cover is designed to be simple but strong.

The same as the NEOTEC 2, the NEOTEC 3 is also P/J double homologated.  When the face cover is opened, it stays at the first lock position - which is suitable for fitting or removing a helmet - and pushing the face cover back further it stays with a stronger force in the second position.  There is a lock to keep the face cover in the second position which prevents the face cover from closing unexpectedly due to light vibrations.  This all makes the Neotec 3 have a highly convenient flip-up system that allows riders to easily position the face cover at the appropriate position according to the occasion of use.

Ventilation

Lower Air Intake - Equipped with two intake holes, the shutter can be operated easily. A filter that prevents insects from entering the helmet is equipped inside.
Upper Air Intake - The opening of the upper air intake has a step with the shell and base parts, making it easy to operate even with winter gloves. Equipped with two air intake holes to introduce wind to the air channels inside the helmet.
Top Air Outlet - The top air outlet, which is equipped with two outlet holes, has been repeatedly verified in SHOEI's wind tunnel facility, and has been designed for efficient ventilation performance.

Chinstrap

A micro ratchet type chinstrap that boasts high durability, safety, and the convenience of being easily tightened even with gloves on.  The NEOTEC 3 introduces a newly developed micro ratchet chinstrap that has become more compact.  Made of highly durable stainless steel, it locks with two claws when tightened and can be released only by raising the lever to a certain angle or more.  The new micro ratchet buckle is downsized while keeping these structures and maximizing safety.  By knitting high-strength, high-elasticity and high-performance fiber into the chinstrap, it has been possible to slim it down all the while improving strength, comfort and fit.

AIM Shell

AIM (Advanced Integrated Matrix) is SHOEI's proprietary high-performance shell structure which is lightweight and superior in rigidity and elasticity based on complex structure of strong glass fibers and organic fibers. We have secured safety high enough to pass the strict standards in each country. While pursuing rigidity and lightness, we continuously ensure uniform safety for every product as before.

Integrated Communication System Attachment Mechanism (SHOEI COMLINK)

As a SHOEI COMLINK model, the Neotec 3 is equipped with an exclusively designed communication system attachment mechanism, which is the same as the GT-Air 3. "SHOEI COMLINK” is the concept for SHOEI helmets for which exclusively designed communication systems are available.

By miniaturizing the bluetooth system, the integration with the helmet design has been enhanced, thereby giving a low profile and smooth finish. The fact that the telecommunications system is exclusively designed for the helmet, it is easy to install without any unnecessary wiring. 

The exclusively designed SRL3 communication system for NEOTEC 3 has been developed by SENA following the previous highly successful SRL series.
